One thing that this pandemic has taught us well is to appreciate every moment of life. We all have been staying at home for the safety of the community, but as we slowly open up, hotels have geared up with added responsibility to provide an even better experience than before!
In these current times where staying safe and healthy remains the foremost priority, our desire to be out in the open, after several months of being cooped up in the house with a change of scene is just appealing to everyone.
Hence, a safe daycation under Accor’s ‘All Safe’ initiative in a safe, outdoorsy environment made my experience more special. The ALLSAFE label has introduced intensified hygiene and prevention measures – elevated cleanliness, protocols, standards and provides assurance of our safety.
Inside The Suite:
The check-in was safe and seamless at Accor’s Novotel, Guwahati. Every touchpoint in the room was sanitised, all the safety and hygiene precautions were up to global standards and I could just relax and indulge in some fun getaway.
The entire experience felt surreal. The well-equipped suites make for a great place and the windows open up to some stunning views of the city surrounded by lush green hills. It’s a welcoming space with delightful sun rays falling into the room, providing with a happy glow of home. A cosy work-chair was conveniently positioned by the window where you could daydream away looking at the expanse and work or have some leisure time for yourself!
As comfortable as the entire room and its amenities were, the wonderful bath area was a delight that gave all the comforts of home – a powerful shower, a heavy-duty hairdryer, and travel-sized bath products, which I adore.
Dining Pleasures:
The food at ‘The Square’ was every bit interesting. The spread included Oriental, Middle-eastern and Continental preparation. The spacious interiors lend themselves to a safe, socially distanced dining. They also have a stunning private room for those who want an even more private experience. Their diverse menu is sure to satisfy many palates.
A traditional Middle Eastern cuisine, Shish Taouk, had perfectly tender and juicy chicken finely marinated in earthy spices and yoghurt. The orange soy steamed fish had a delicate, simple taste with an extra layer of oomph. A new twist, falafel on shirmal bread presented a distinct taste. The refreshing Watermelon Feta Salad with mint was perfect. The freshly dressed mint with the watermelon and chocolate sauce presented a sweet-and-salty combination. Ending the fulfilling lunch with paan-flavoured ice cream, it was refreshing and really gave way to an elevated dessert experience. It was intense on flavour and light on the palate.
For those who like their stays equipped with delicious culinary experience and heartfelt service, these sweet and short daycations end with an evening high tea party. My evening culinary sojourn was brought by the classic Italian bruschetta sliced into pieces that creates a nice ‘blanketing’ effect. A nice menu of masala chai with and shawarma roll kicked in the right Indian ingredients and was just good. However, my only quibble would be the choice of a packed roll after a heavy lunch.
Prioritising With Safety:
The Accor brand’s ‘ALLSAFE’ label verified by Clifton comes equipped with new elevated cleanliness protocols. I could see many of the procedures for myself – Contactless check-in, check-out; sanitiser provided in key public areas; food safety standards; additional food handling protocols were being used. Public areas are cleaned frequently, with special care given to most frequented spots such as front-desk counters and elevators.
The fitness centre and the spa space is accessible to only a handful of people at a time to avoid overcrowding and the equipment is sanitised after every use. They allow alternate machines to be operated so that you can stay fit even as you physical distance yourself.
To sum up, it’s an elevated experience you can have at North-East India with a depth in details for safety, stay and culinary executed effortlessly.
