Christie’s online auction will present a selection of the most desirable, collectible and rare handbags, luggage and accessories – from Hermès, Louis Vuitton and Chanel
Christie’s will be presenting a Handbags and Accessories auction from November 3 to November 17, 2020. The online sale will have handbags, luggage, accessories and collectibles from iconic luxury brands like Dior, Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Chanel.
The sale’s most coveted lot is the rare Hermès 2020 Matte White Himalaya Niloticus Crocodile Birkin 25 with Palladium Hardware. Priced at an estimate of £60,000-80,000, the gradient bag takes its name from its semblance to the colors of the majestic, snow-capped Himalayan massif. Other highlights from Hermès include a 2018 Étain Swift Leather Kelly Lakis 28 with Gold Hardware (estimate: £8,000-10,000) and a 2020 Rose Pourpre & Malachite Togo Leather Birkin 25 with Brushed Gold Hardware (estimate: £6,000-8,000)

From Louis Vuitton, iconic pieces from the late 19th and early 20th centuries include an incredibly rare Hermetic Explorer’s Zinc Cabin Trunk from the 1890s (estimate: £40,000-50,000). Designed for the most intrepid of explorers, Louis Vuitton asserted his dominance in the travel-trunk market with the use of lightweight materials. The auction also includes examples of the Louis Vuitton Malle Fleurs, the iconic 20th century flower trunks, including a beautiful monogram canvas trunk from the 1920s (estimate: £15,000-20,000). Representing an iconic moment in the history of Louis Vuitton, they were introduced as gifts for the most exclusive clients of the house. The trunks included a zinc liner to allow flowers and water to be placed inside, without causing any damage to the trunk.

Chanel’s offerings include a 2014 White Lucite & Crystal Lego Clutch (estimate: £2,000-3,000), a 2018 Lime Sequin Mini Single Flap with Silver Hardware (estimate: £1,000-2,000) and a 2018 Clear Plexi Glass Chain Bag with Rainbow Hardware (estimate: £3,000-4,000)
After a successful online-only auction of handbags in London earlier this year, the bidding opens on November 3, 2020.
Christie’s Hong Kong is also auctioning a range of iconic Louis Vuitton trunks on November 27, from the original creations of 1886 to more current ones created by Virgil Abloh. The standout of the show included a classic Malle Courrier trunk updated to feature a modern neon rainbow gradation and Abloh’s signature ‘X’, which will be offered at auction coming November. This innovative design perfectly balances today’s contemporary urban styling with Maison’s luxury craftsmanship (estimate: US$52,000 – 65,000).
